How much does our advice cost?

The cost of our advice depends on the complexity of the financial planning and the time it takes to implement. However we always agree a fixed fee with our clients, before they agree to engage us on any project. This fee can be paid directly or for some types of advice taken from the product or through commission* - we'll agree this with you at the outset.

If you require ongoing advice and support, we will be delighted to provide this and will agree a charge for any ongoing services with you at the outset. Even if we advise you on an initial project, you are not required to take ongoing advice from us - so you remain in control.

We are completely transparent about costs and will always disclose any commission* payments/fees we expect to receive and will offset/rebate the commission* if you have chosen to pay us by fee.

You may be familiar with many of the services we offer, although our clients tell us we offer them in a unique way. However, you may not have experienced our 'Relationship Models', 'Home Concierge Service' or found an adviser who can confidently answer when you ask 'Am I on Track'?

Relationship Models

One size does not fit all! Therefore we have developed a range of tailored solutions which reflects your needs and priorities:

  • Intensive; this is our highest service level. Typically for clients with over £500,000 of investable assets, you will enjoy quarterly face-to-face reviews and rebalances, unlimited telephone access to your personal financial planner, remote access to your lifestyle financial planning tool and no fees on most other transactions (e.g. mortgage advice fees are waived).
  • Specialist; this is our most popular level. Typically for clients with £150,000 - £500,000 of investable assets, you will enjoy annual face-to-face reviews and rebalances, unlimited telephone access to your personal financial planner, lifestyle financial planning and substantially discounted fees on most other transactions.
  • On-call; this is our entry level service. Typically for clients starting their first financial planning relationship, with investable assets of up to £150,000. You will be offered an annual telephone consultation, generous access to your personal financial planner and discounted fees on other transactions.
  • On-demand; this is our transactional service offering, where we assist clients on a 'project basis' with no ongoing fees or service, but a commitment to maintaining our high service levels and competitive pricing.

Many clients will already be paying some 'commissions'* or charges from their pensions & investments, so may not experience an increase in costs - we will, however, always be transparent and clear if our costs are higher than your existing adviser.    

*The Financial Conduct Authority's predecessor The Financial Services Authority stopped commissions on any new retail investment products, however for polices that were arranged prior to 31st December 2012 and for mortgage and protection polices you may still be able to pay for the advice or for on-going servicing through the commission generated by these products.

Home Concierge Service  

Buying a house is usually one of the largest purchases we will make, yet the UK house buying process appears akin to the Wild West, with many different agents, gazumping, gazundering, lies and misdirection; it is little wonder that many clients become stressed or frustrated at the process.

We have listened to our clients who wanted to have a person they could trust helping them throughout the home buying process, so we developed the Home Concierge Service. The service harnesses our vast experience of property transactions and includes:

  • Initial advice to establish your budget and give indicative costs and monthly payments  
  • Assisting with the negotiation of your property (please read our client testimonials to see our results)
  • Acting as a liason with the estate agent - we are a buffer, helping to preserve your sanity
  • Recommending the most suitable mortgage for your circumstance and arranging the mortgage on your behalf
  • Acting as a liason with the solicitor - ensuring they are working as quickly as possible, translating their jargon and helping to resolve any issues which arise to ensure a smooth completion

We work alongside your existing professional advisers or can recommend some trusted firms if required, and our service is flexible enough to allow you to choose which areas you want to deal with and then just leave the rest to us.

Am I on track?

We spend our lives 'running for the horizon'; working hard, trying to get ahead and looking for the next big opportunity. Rarely do we stop, take stock, and consider 'how soon can I stop doing what I have to do and start doing what I want to do?', 'how much is enough?' and 'am I on track to acheive my life and financial goals?'

Our Lifestyle Financial Planning process helps find answers to these questions. Using our system we can calculate exactly where you are, what you have achieved and what needs to be done. We then create your Lifestyle Plan, a detailed roadmap to help you get there. Regular reviews ensure you remain on track.

The Financial Conduct Authority does not regulate the following areas of advice that may be provided or introduced to you: taxation and trusts, inheritance tax mitigation, will planning, Golden Charter's pre-paid funeral plans, home concierge service (apart from residential mortgage), commercial and buy-to-let mortgages.

For mortgages we charge: An Advice Fee of between £0 and £2,500 is payable on application (typically this will be £1,500). We may also charge an Arrangement Fee, for which you can choose to either allow us to keep the commission from the lender OR to pay a fee of 0.75% of the loan amount (payable on application and we will refund any of the commission received on completion).
